Dad, I had to go the school office today! Those words were the first things out of my son's mouth the other day when he called me from home.

Those words were the first things out of my son's mouth the other day when he called me from home.
When he told me he went to the office, he said it in such a somber tone.
He waited a couple of beats and exclaimed, "It was awesome."
I'm thinking, "What kind of kid have we raised? One who is thrilled to be going to the principal's ofice?"
Before I had a chance to ask what had happened, he uttered: "There was blood everywhere!"
Now I'm wondering if my first grader got into a fight or got hurt on the playground.
Then he proudly proclaims: "I pulled out my front tooth."
I was relieved it was only that.
