The Pain Treatment Center of the Bluegrass is the largest freestanding facility in the Bluegrass Region dedicated to the treatment of pain. Founded in 1991 by Ballard D. Wright, M.D., the Center specializes in treating patients for whom traditional medical and surgical methods have failed to alleviate their pain.
Mission
Our mission at The Pain Treatment Center of the Bluegrass is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to quality and cost-effective health care for the acute or chronic pain patient in an atmosphere of social concern and scholarly inquiry. The Center takes pride in its ability to help those difficult cases in which conservative therapy has failed. In these special cases, the Center's staff believe that they can bring relief to those individuals who have been told that there is no hope.

Who is seen by the Behavioral Medicine staff?
• Every New Patient-
As part of the multi- modal treatment plan offered at The Pain Treatment Center of the Bluegrass, all patients are referred to the Behavioral Medicine Department for psychological evaluatation and treatment.Our Behavioral Medicine Department addresses the emotional and psychological aspect of pain.
• Patients referred for Pain Coping/ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-
A patient is referred when he/ she is seeking to change from living without pain to learning to live with pain. The patient is taught pain coping skills such as relaxation therapy, biofeedback, hypnosis, pacing activities, and cognitive coping skills.
• A Patient Evaluated for Surgical Implants (Intrathecal Pump and Spinal Cord Stimulator)-
A full psychological evaluation is required (including an in- depth diagnostic interview, review of records, an MMPI- 2 Beck Depression Inventory, Multidimensional Pain Inventory, Pain Anxiety Assessment Scale, and Pain Disability Scale) when a patient is evaluated for surgical implants.

The goal of our medical providers and staff is to reduce pain, to restore function and to improve the quality of life of our patients.
Ballard Wright, MD, PSC (PSC), physician practice is an approximately 15,000 sq ft. building, comprised of 28 examination rooms for patient evaluations, minor procedures and neurodiagnostic testing. The practice also houses an in-house laboratory and imaging suite outfitted with a CT scanner, x-ray machine and a dexa scanner.
The physicians' office building is located at 2416 Regency Road and is next door to the Surgery Center. We are just one turn from Nicholasville Road and our location provides free, convenient, adjoining parking, with easy access into our offices.

The Stone Road Surgery Center (ASC) is an approximately 15,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center complete with two surgical suites, one procedure suite, and state-of-the-art fluoroscopy.
