Waco Flying Service FAQ

Q: How long does it take to learn to fly?
A: The Federal Aviation Administration requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight training. Our average student takes 40- 55 hours, and anywhere between 3 months to a year depending upon the frequency of lessons .
Q: Is there an age requirement?
A: You must be 16 to fly "solo" and 17 to earn your license. However, we've had success training with students as young as 13 years old. this really can be a family activity.
Q: Do I need perfect vision?
A: No! It only needs to be correctable. Most folks in reasonably good health have few issues passing the simple physical exam for the FAA medical certificate C Third class.
Q: Can I go on a test drive?
A: Yes! Most flight schools offer some form of introductory flight. Ours last about half an hour, and we'll actually let you take the controls!
Q: Is leaning to fly expensive?
A: The private pilot license will cost between $5,500 and $8,000. That's about on par with most used jet-skis, and less than a nice fishing boat or motorcycle.
