Recipe of the Month - Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie

Start the New Year off right by implementing one of the most important meals of the day - Breakfast!

Here's a quick and easy smoothie recipe that doesn't take a lot of time to prepare, has lots of protein and fiber and adds a simple way for you to get a serving of greens in for the day. It may sound a little weird, but trust smoothieme, it really does taste great!

8 oz water or unsweetened almond milk
3/4 to 1 cup frozen blueberries
1 to 2 cups fresh or frozen spinach
1 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein such as MaxPro Protein Powder or Prograde Protein

Blend all the ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pour in a glass or To-Go mug and enjoy!


Exercise of the Month - Step Up With Knee Lift

Begin by standing in front of a step or bench, feet hip bone width apart. Starting with your non-dominant leg, step your entire foot up onto the bench, pushing from your heel to push yourself up to the top of the step, then driving the knee of your opposite (nonworking ) leg up to a 90 degree angle. Make sure to keep all of your weight on the working leg, only touching your nonworking leg to the step to regain your balance if needed. Slowly lower yourself back down to the starting position, repeat for 8-12 reps before switching sides. Keep abdominals engaged the entire time as if you were bracing yourself to get punched.
