The Bair Foundation FAQ

Q: What do I have to do to become a foster parent?
A: There are 4 priority trainings that must be completed through The Bair Foundation along with the paperwork that is needed, home inspections, and an in home interview.
Q: How long will the process of becoming a foster parent take?
A: Because of the great need for foster homes, our goal is to get the family certified within 60 days unless something unforeseen happens during the process.
Q: Is there an income requirement?
A: There is no income requirement. However, during the application process there is a budget worksheet that must be completed which asks about income and monthly bills.
Q: Can the children in my care attend home school?
A: No. The children in our care must attend either public or private school.
Q: Are there children in my community that need homes?
A: Absolutely! The number of children that are removed from their biological homes and placed in foster care is broken down into counties and regions on the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website in the Data Book. It is better for children if they are able to stay within their own county if not the city that they originally lived in. It can be quite stressful on a child to move to a different city when they are having to adjust to so many other changes.
