About Us

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program is a federally funded program administered in Central Texas by the Education Service Center Region 12.  The funding was approved in 2011 and is expected to continue for seven years.  The program will follow a cohort of 4,000 students (mostly from the class of 2018) from 23 school districts in Central Texas.  The program serves these students as they progress through middle and high school and enter their first year of college.

In order to be included in the grant, the school district had to have half of all students qualify for free and reduced lunches.

ESC Region 12 is partnering with a number of colleges, universities, and area businesses and programs to provide these services.

GEAR UP believes that college education is possible for all students, regardless of economic background.

As a parent, you want your child to grow up prepared for the future. This can mean many things, but to most of us it means making sure your child is properly educated to enter the career they desire and arming them with the life skills needed to make responsible adult decisions. That's why a college education is so important!

A college education can open up a world of possibilities for your child. College students are exposed to new ideas, activities and people. College graduates have many more career choices than non-graduates. They also earn more and are far less likely to be unemployed.

Deciding on your child’s future can be confusing, yet fun. Because, now more than ever... There are more career choices open to themm. There is more money available to help  pay for college. There are more programs to help get them academically prepared for the challenges of college. There is more information available on college and careers, and there are more people around to help make those all important decisions.
