Today’s tip is how to make your bananas last a bit longer before they go bad:

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Now if you do happen to end up with overripe bananas anyway, here’s a great banana bar recipe for you.

Banana Bars

You will need:

1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 mashed bananas
3 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
pinch of salt
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg

For the Cream Cheese Topping, you will need:

1/2 c. butter
4 c. powder sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
2 t. vanilla
(Set out the butter and the cream cheese to soften.)

Bars – Cream butter and sugar, add bananas, eggs and vanilla. Mix. Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix. Grease 15x10 pan. Bake at 350 for 25 min or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Topping – Cream butter, cream cheese and vanilla. Slowly add powder sugar. Let bars cool well before spreading topping.
