Tamara L. Bailey, DDS FAQ
Q: How often should I visit the dentist?
A: Most healthy adults and children should visit the dentist twice a year for examination and cleaning. Some people may need to visit more often depending on their periodontal needs. At each visit in our office, each patient is evaluated and screened for early signs of periodontal disease and we make treatment recommendations based on your individual health needs.
Q: Do you treat children?
A: We offer a wide variety of treatment for children of all ages. We provide cleanings, fluoride, x-rays, examinations and sealants on a routine basis for children. Fillings and extractions are also treated in the office. If the child is extremely young or needs extensive treatment we may refer the patient to a specialist on a case-by-case basis. Patients then return for follow up care to our office.
Q: I hate my smile! What are my options?
A: We offer a wide variety of options for improving your smile. They range from simple tooth whitening up to ‘extreme makeovers’. Many people can improve their smile with a combination of very simple procedures. We offer adult, short-term orthodontics (both brackets and clear aligner trays), bleaching, veneers, cosmetic bonding and crowns. Call our office for a free cosmetic consult if you are interested in improving your smile.
Q: I have been told I have periodontal disease, but my teeth feel fine. Can’t I just wait until it hurts?
A: Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection of the gums and surrounding tissue. It almost never becomes painful, even after it has destroyed most of the tissue. It is an active infection in the mouth and must be treated. Numerous studies have linked periodontal disease to other systemic conditions such as heart disease and low birth weight babies. Most times it responds well to simple treatment, but some patients will require repeated treatment and/ or surgery to treat the disease. Here at our office we offer a laser surgery option that eliminates the need for traditional surgery and the uncomfortable post-op complications of packing and sutures. Call our office to discuss periodontal treatment options available.
Q: What can I expect at my first appointment with your office?
A: At your first appointment you will be scheduled with the hygienist for a full cleaning, necessary x-rays, a full periodontal examination and a full examination with the doctor. At that visit we will discuss treatment options and what you would like to achieve with your dental treatment. Our office manager will provide you with a written treatment plan and a list of payment options. We accept most traditional insurance plans and will gladly submit your claim for you. Any questions you may have can be answered at this time. Call our office to schedule your new patient visit today!
