Riverview Hospital - Joint Center FAQ
Q: When do I need a joint replacement?
There may come a time when knee or hip pain reduces the quality of your life. Everyday activities, such as walking, shopping, yard work or house work can become difficult or unbearable. Taking part in favorite hobbies such as golf or bowling may be a thing of the past because conservative measures like diet, exercise and medications no longer provide relief or alleviate your pain. If this sounds like you, and you would like to get your life back, it may be time to consider joint replacement.
Q: What are the qualifications of your staff?
Riverview Joint Center brings together the team of experienced surgeons of Wisconsin River Orthopaedics and their staff with the specially trained nurses and therapists of Riverview Medical Center. Our goal is to provide seamless, coordinated care and get you back to your favorite activities as soon as possible.
Our staff members are chosen for their positive attitudes, motivational skills, and their desire to provide outstanding service. In addition, they are specially trained to provide comprehensive clinical care for patients undergoing this important procedure.
Q: Where does the surgery and recovery take place?
Your surgery is performed in the surgery department at Riverview Medical Center. Before and after surgery, our patients stay in their own private, modern, spacious rooms on the second floor of Riverview Medical Center’s Patient Tower.
Exercise and therapy are provided individually and in group settings, so our patients can support and encourage one another on the road to recovery. New friendships are made, enhancing the healing process. Your “coach” (family member or friend) is encouraged to participate in group activities and education.
And no hospital gowns for this crowd—you get to wear your own clothes!
