How to Get a Better Night's Sleep

We all know how important sleep is for our health and sanity. But nearly 9 million Americans rely on prescription sleeping pills to get their much-needed rest.

There are some things you can do to help you fall asleep without a trip to the pharmacy.

Create a sanctuary. Keep your bedroom cool and dark. Invest in a comfortable bed with nice sheets.

Turn off the technology. Your bedroom should be for relaxation and sleeping only.

Stick to a schedule. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day.

Exercise. A good workout during the day promotes a good slumber at night.

Consider a bedtime ritual. Read a book or take a bath before bed.

If you still have trouble falling asleep, it's time to consult your doctor.
