Despite recommendations from doctors and the American Academy of Pediatrics, many parents aren't sure which items are safe for a newborn baby's crib.
Many new parents adorn their baby's crib with colorful bumpers, cute toys and fuzzy blankets, but these items can be hazardous.
It is recommended that newborns sleep n a crib with a firm mattress and fitted sheet only. And baby should always be placed on their back to reduce their risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, which is the unexplained death of a child under 1.
A recent study indicates that many parents just aren't aware of the sleep standards.
