Born and raised on the flat lands among the wheat fields of central Indiana, Dr. Covert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio in 1972. His Doctorate in Optometry was completed at Indiana University in May 1977. The fall of 1979 introduced the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the great town of Charlottesville, Virginia to the brand new practice of Dr’s Clark and Covert.

For nearly three decades, not only has Charlottesville grown and evolved so has the profession of optometry. Embracing and incorporating the latest of cutting edge medical technologies, advancements and techniques in the ophthalmic field including LASIK, retinal photography, computer aided refraction, glaucoma treatments, advances in pharmacology, spectacle lens designs and materials and contact lens materials, Dr. Covert has met the challenge of remaining open to and abreast of these developments to provide his patients with the best vision care and vision correction.

Known for his detailed, tenacious, no-nonsense and caring style of health care delivery, Dr. Covert continues to welcome not only his established patients, but new patients as well.
