Monticello Nannies

Our Philosophy
Here's our take on things...

EXCELLENCE IN OUR FIELD
After years of working as a Nanny myself, it seemed the natural next step to move toward setting a new standard for childcare services in the Charlottesville area by referring nannies who are educated, experienced, and trustworthy to the families who need them.

We are committed to serving the community by being a reliable resource for safe, excellent childcare. Monticello Nannies strives to make finding the best caregivers simple, the way it should be.

It makes sense to us to keep our business local. That way we really get to know our families and nannies, and can provide a high level of personal service. This business is all about relationships, after all.

RESPECT FOR MY CAREGIVERS
Early on in my child care career I realized the importance of what I had chosen to do. When I experienced the gratitude of the families and the love of the children, it became clear that my presence provided them with more than just child care. I was an integral part of the family, taken into homes and trusted with the most precious of treasures.

Because I recognize the value of a good nanny, I am committed to treating our nannies with respect and providing them with the means to further their career. I strive to facilitate open communication between families and nannies during the hiring process so as to ensure that the working relationship is a harmonious one for everyone involved.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
I believe that businesses are accountable to the community in which they operate and should follow socially responsible practices which include recycling, patronizing other local businesses, and giving back monetarily to the needy, among other things. Monticello Nannies donates a percentage of profits to children’s charities annually.

Step #2: Fill out the appropriate online application.

Register for Temporary/On-Call Services or apply for a permanent full-time or part-time nanny. Be as accurate as possible with your job description, but if you aren’t sure we can help you pinpoint your needs when we meet in person.

Step #3: A Monticello Nannies Representative will visit your family in the home.

We want to meet the family! The more we know about you, the greater the chance of a successful placement. We will work out a final job description, sign a services agreement, and the search for your perfect nanny begins.

Step #4: Meet the Nannies in person.

Up to three qualified candidates will be interviewed by the family. These nannies have undergone preliminary background checks, had their experience and references verified, and have a minimum of two years working with children.

Step #5: Make a job offer to the most outstanding candidate.

You and your new nanny will negotiate compensation. After an agreement is reached, an intent to hire contract is signed by the family and the nanny.

Step #6: Your nanny undergoes the second round of background checks, and an employment contract is signed.

Monticello Nannies is committed to placing safe nannies so that you have peace of mind when you are away from home. Nannies who accept long-term positions undergo two rounds of background checks. When the final checks are completed, we draw up a contract that details the expectations of the parents including duties, hours, and specific information about your family’s needs. The contract also specifies the nanny’s compensation, and any benefits, vacation or sick days included with the employment offer.

Step #7: You and your new nanny have a 30-day trial period.

During this time, Monticello Nannies is available to help amend the employment contract to include any unforeseen issues. If a serious problem occurs, and you need to break the contract, Monticello Nannies will provide one additional candidate who is qualified for your nanny position, along with a new contract if you make an offer to the new candidate. After the 30-day trial period, you still have some options if a serious problem occurs within the next 5 months. These options are detailed in the service agreement.
