Chef Basket - Is it worth it?

It’s the Chef Basket, a 12-in-1 tool for the kitchen.

Some of its uses might be considered repetitive, such as “use to wash” and “use to rinse” foods. It can also be used to hold foods in boiling water, in the fryer and as a steamer.

The Chef Basket is made of wire mesh and to use it, open it by its top handles and flip it inside out. The basket should stand open on its handles. When it’s closed, it should lay almost completely flat.

During the product test, the basket didn’t seem to be as sturdy as it claims to be.

After putting the food you intend to cook in the Chef Basket, you’re supposed to be able to place it in the pot, pan or fryer. But it’s restricted by its size and won’t fit in smaller pots or sauce pans. The instructions say that when using the Chef Basket for pasta, you have to use larger or more tubular noodles, as varieties like spaghetti fall through the holes easily.

While cooking with the Chef Basket, you’re supposed to keep the handles out to the side, which keeps them cool to the touch. Pasta, for example, drains as you lift it out of the pot.

The Chef Basket is dishwasher safe and retails for around $10.

Is it worth it? With all the problems during testing, probably not.
