How to Spot Bedbugs

This article, entitled "How to Spot Bedbugs," comes from Annie Payne, MomsEveryday correspondent from Western Colorado.

Bed bugs are vile little creatures that you could unfortunately find on your next getaway. Here's how to spot the creepy crawlers.

When entering your new digs, put your luggage in the bathroom during your inspection – it’s the least likely place to find the bugs.

First, take a deep breath. If you notice a sweet, musty smell in your hotel room or cabin there may be an infestation.

Next, look for specks of blood on bedding, mattresses and upholstered furniture. Other signs of bedbugs include the outer shell they leave behind and tiny, black specks from excrement.

Bedbugs also lay white, oval eggs in cracks and crevices. Noticing the eggs is a sure sign of an infestation.

These little pests cause welt-like bites and severe itching… and if you bring them home with you you’ll need a professional to get rid of them.
