Keep Your Kids Active and Off the Couch This Summer

This article, entitled "Keep Your Kids Active and Off the Couch This Summer," comes from Katie Kuenkel, MomsEveryday correspondent from Western Wisconsin.

This summer, make sure your child isn't spending too much time on the couch. By staying active, they'll reduce their risk of health problems in the future and have a chance to blow off some steam.

Make working out a scheduled family event, like taking a bike ride after dinner.

Sign your child up for a baseball or volleyball league, swimming lessons or a sports camp.

Take interest in a new hobby together as a family, like bowling, tennis or inline skating.

Organize fun neighborhood games like dodgeball, soccer or relay races.

Take frequent trips to the local swimming pond or pool for a great workout.

Turn off the TV, turn on some music and have a family dance party.

Make sure you join in on the fun. It's up to you to be a healthy example for your children.
