Bridget Barnes

Bridget has worked in the field of Family Services for over 30-years for the original Father Flanagan’s Boys Home. Yes, Boys Town from the movie!

As the Director of Boys Town’s Common Sense Parenting® Program for Nebraska and Iowa, she brings an array of talent and experience to her position. She has worked with numerous parents and trained countless professionals worldwide. Bridget is the co-author of the two award winning (National Parenting Publication, Golden Seal Award) Common Sense Parenting® books (Common Sense Parenting for parents of school-age children 3rd Edition, Common Sense Parenting for parents of toddlers and preschoolers) which have been translated into several languages.

Her leadership and creativity has enabled her to assist in developing several Boys Town products. She has used her experience, knowledge and practical parenting skills to make the Common Sense Parenting® Program a versatile and evidence-based parent educational service, which provides parenting classes to over 10,000 families each year in the US. For over thirty-five years as a wife mother of two and grandmother, she has enjoyed working with families while finding time to occasionally act and illustrate children’s books (Making Friends is an Art).
