As a mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Notesong’s life revolves around caring and multi-tasking.
A first-generation Thai immigrant born in Kansas and raised in North Dakota, Notesong met her husband, Jason, while they were undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin. She is a veteran pediatric emergency/trauma nurse, an attorney, and a Certified Lactation Counselor (breastfeeding expert) - careers fueled by her passion for maternal and child advocacy. After living in Milwaukee for almost two decades, Notesong and her husband settled in Madison with their three spunky kids (Jason Jr, Sabrene, and Juliana). Notesong took a break from paid work to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom focusing on parenting and volunteering at her kids’ school and at the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation. During this time, she also co-founded the Thai-American Association of Madison and a Thai children’s language and culture class.
In 2017, Notesong and a close friend from high school formed a new law firm, Notesong & Nathan LLP, focused specifically on creating wills. ThoughtfulWills.com aims to redefine how folks relate to their lawyer – together, they’ve reimagined the will-making process and created a will that is affordable, reliable, and also understandable by non-lawyers. Wills are so important - and often forgotten or put on the back burner - and Notesong is excited to make a real difference in the lives of her clients. Notesong practices yoga whenever possible - it makes her happier and yell less, so say her kids and husband - a win-win for all! “Eat Well and Travel Often” drives her ambitions, especially if it involves cheese and charcuterie, spicy food, and adventurous, international travel with her family. Her goal is to show her kids the world. She often jams with a local ukulele group, tickles the ivories when the mood strikes her, and daily she can be found boogying to ABBA and disco classics in her mini(super)van while chauffeuring her kids (and maybe yours) between activities. Fellow moms, if you see her, feel free to make eye contact and start bobbing your head in sync and start dancing, too!
(And, yes! Notesong really is her name - coined by her dad and inspired by her parents’ love of music. Though, Notesong is the ‘Americanized’ version of her Thai name - Nahtasuang...just in case you were curious. And, just to be clear, she is the original Notesong.)
