WBKO WEB EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
(Listen Through the Video Player)
Frank Oz is the brilliant performer and originator of iconic Muppet characters, such as Cookie Monster, Bert, Grover, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Sam Eagle, Animal AND the Jedi Master from Star Wars, Yoda. I had the privilege of chatting with one of my professional heroes about his movie, "Muppet Guys Talking." In his movie, Frank and his Muppet cohorts share fun behind-the-scene stories and what they learned over the years from working with Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets. What made the Muppets so successful? They pull back the onion layers of what it was like to be part of the pop cultural phenomenon (how many people think of "Mahna Mahna" when you say that word?).
Growing up as a kid in the 70s and 80s, Frank Oz's characters were a HUGE part of my childhood. Frank is also an accomplished director of stage and screen. So, I was super excited for the opportunity to talk to him.
