Explore the beauty of East Tennessee

Looking for a great vacation destination? Here are some tips from Knoxville MomsEveryday host Whitney Kent.

“We like to say East Tennessee is a hidden gem itself with culture, sports and fun for the entire family!" Kent said.

If you make a stop in Knoxville, don't skip the Sunsphere located in the middle of the city. You may remember it being featured in an episode of the Simpsons where everyone said it was a wig shop. It's not. The Sunsphere was constructed as a symbol for the World's Fair in 1982. It towers over a large park and now features an observation deck and a party rental space.

Zoo Knoxville is a highlight of the area with animals from all over the world. Did you know that more red pandas have been born in Knoxville than in any other zoo in the world? It might be due to the climate in the area, which is similar to their native home in the Eastern Himalayas.

“East Tennessee also has a place dreams are made of if you're a Dolly Parton fan, because her amusement park is here! Now Dollywood is much more than rides, they have world-class entertainment, great food, shopping and yes, Dolly does come by the park! It's just an exciting place to be," Whitney said.

Don't forget to get a stamp in your National Park Passport at the Great Smoky Mountains. Admission is free to this beautiful national park that features parts of the Appalachian Trail.
