If you’re like a lot of women you dread shopping for a swim suit.
Personal Stylist Krystle Marks, blogger at LoveKrystle.com has some tips to make that dreaded task a little more successful.
“First I would focus on high-waisted suits,” Marks said. “If you feel like you have a little bit of a tummy or you carry more love in that area, as I say, it will give you a little bit more coverage. The higher waist will cover the lower to mid abdominal area.”
“The smallest part of your core is right under your rib cage so we’re still revealing that which is great, but you’ll get a nice smooth line underneath,” Marks said.
“But I want to focus on the fact that most high-waisted bottoms cut right at the hip and thigh--lower on the leg,” Marks said. “That actually makes you look more broad. The more leg I see, the longer the leg looks. So it keeps that line going straight up and doesn’t cut it off.”
“If you feel like you carry more in the hip and thigh, it’s really important to look for a wide-waisted bottom,” Marks said. “If you have a seam that’s a little more tight it’s gonna cut and dig and it will give you rolls where you don’t have them. A wider waist will soften the area and the suit will just graze your body.”
For a fuller bust go with an underwire and thicker strap for better support.
“The best suit for every body, what I call the miracle suit, has a wrap style with a shirred tummy area,” Marks said. “This style will flatter every body type and give you a waist.”
“When trying on suits we’re usually in department stores or fluorescent lighting,” Marks said. “It’s not gentle lighting, so give yourself some grace. We see one type of swimsuit body but I have beautiful friends and beautiful family members that have all different bodies and I think they’re all beautiful.”
