Young children are natural observers; it’s how they learn about the world around them. But this natural curiosity can turn into a mortifying moment when they said out something inappropriate in public.
We all have that famous family tale of the time our children blurted out something inappropriate or hilarious -- at the wrong time.
As parents, we need to remember that when a toddler blurts out something they see as different, they're not trying to be mean. They're just commenting on what is noteworthy to them.
Rather than shaming them, use the opportunity as a teachable moment. Apologize to whomever may have been offended, and then talk about what happened in private.
This week our panel of moms is sharing some of their most embarrassing moments.
We would love to hear about what your kiddos said that may have caused anxiety in the moment -- but became a legendary family story later. Sound off on our Facebook page!
