Treatment-Based Foster Care in Virginia

Braley & Thompson focuses on Therapeutic Foster Care. Treatment-based foster care offers a safe and stable environment for youth in foster care to manage their social, emotional, and educational issues. Braley & Thompson’s foster families work with a team of professional staff to develop unique responses to meet the individualized needs of each child. We fully train all of our foster families before we certify them. Independent Living Services and Support

Braley & Thompson offers foster care youth ages 17 – 21 an Independent Living Apartment Program that includes comprehensive case management services in a safe and secure environment. Residents receive an Independent Living assessment and individualized service planning, educational opportunities, vocational supports, and employment assistance. Residents participate in traditional classroom instruction, in addition to hands-on, skill based training. Each apartment is furnished and located near public transportation, shopping, educational facilities, and employment opportunities in Roanoke and Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Learn more...

In-Home

Braley & Thompson offers an Intensive In-Home Program in Chesapeake and Roanoke, Virginia for children and adolescents from ages 5 – 18, who live in a community-based family system. The program assists young people who display symptoms and behaviors that put them at risk for placement in a more restrictive setting, or who could be returned from a restrictive setting to a family, given adequate treatment supports.  Learn more...

Life Skills

Our Braley & Thompson Life Skills Coaching services assist at-risk youth in their homes and in the Chesapeake community to support them in achieving independence and maintaining stability in their environment. We help teens learn the skills needed to prevent removal from their home and community due to legal involvement, drug and alcohol use, psychiatric needs, and severe limitations in social and personal relationships.  Learn more...

Braley & Thompson offers outpatient therapy and counseling services for adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Mentoring Programs for At-Risk Youth

We work with at-risk youth and adolescents in their homes and in their communities of Roanoke and Chesapeake, Virginia to provide role modeling, therapeutic recreation, behavior management and modification, independent living skills training, tutoring, community integration, and many other services. The young adults in our program are experiencing issues including academic difficulties, self-esteem issues, impulsive behaviors, physical isolation, verbal or physical aggression, and substance abuse. Parenting Classes

Braley & Thompson offers a series of parenting classes that are available for our prospective foster families, as well as adoptive families and the general public. These informative sessions cover a wide variety of topics related to assisting parents with providing a structured environment, as well as social, emotional, and educational supports to ensure that each child has the best opportunity to achieve ongoing success throughout his or her life. At Braley & Thompson, we support our foster families and the community. We take great efforts to provide continuity of care for all of the youth in our care.
