About Us

We are pleased that you and your doctor have chosen us for your rheumatology treatment. We are committed to providing the best quality and most up-to-date care for our patients. We are also committed to delivering this care in a compassionate manner.

Because of our specialized training, we limit our practice to rheumatologic diseases. These include arthritis (joint pain and swelling), rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, fibrositis, osteoarthritis and muscle diseases. For your other health care needs please consult your primary care provider. 

There are more than 100 types of arthritis that can keep you from enjoying the simple pleasures of life...Carolina Arthritis Center's has 3 Board Certified Rheumatologists  that offer definitive diagnosis of inflammatory conditions and treatments that can limit damage to joints or organs including the eyes, heart, kidneys, lungs and skin.  We Specialize in Biologics that help prevent disease progression, the focus is on treatments to improve mobility and lifestyle... We are not a pain clinic.

Our Office

Your First Visit
For your first visit, plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for initial registration and to provide information on your medical history. Please bring along any medications you are currently taking. We also need information about your insurance coverage.    

Office Hours
Our new office hours are 8:00am-4:00pm M-Th and 8:00am-12:00pm Friday by appointment. If you cannot keep your appointment, please give us two business days notice. We know your time is valuable and will notify you as soon as possible if your appointment time is affected by emergencies.

We have a charge for not cancelling appointments.*

*If you cancel an appointment, you must give at least 24 hours notice or your account will be subject to a $100 no show fee.

Our fees are based on our knowledge, skills, and services. Fees are charged for four primary services:

  • Consultation and office visits according to complexity of your condition.
  • If laboratory tests are performed, there is a separate charge for these.
  • If X-rays are performed there is a separate charge for these (technical and interpretation).
  • Joint procedures may be performed (aspiration and injection).

We accept assignment on Medicare and most commercial insurance. Our office will fill out the necessary forms. Your insurance may pay all, some, or none of your bill. Any remaining balance, deductible and co-payment are the patient’s responsibility. All patients are requested to pay for their office visit on the day of service.

There are no smoking areas in our office building.

Some insurances require precertification for special studies ordered by Rheumatology. Precertification may be required from your primary care provider or our office. Please notify your primary provider one week before the studies are to be performed.

Prescriptions and refills are issued during regular office hours because your record is available to us for review. No routine prescriptions will be filled at night or on weekends. Please allow two business days for routine prescription refills. For refills requiring preauthorization from your insurance company allow one week.

Medical information is released only with your consent, except when required by law.

Reception Area
Please bring only one person to accompany you on your office visit. This will allow room in our reception area for all patients.

Our Services

Office Consultations
Initial evaluation and follow-up care is carried out in our office. Whenever possible, please bring along X-rays and records for our review. You will undergo a history and physical examination at your initial evaluation and during follow-up exams.

Upon completion of our evaluation, we will review our findings and recommendations with you. A full report will also be sent to your referring physician and your primary care provider.

On Site Radiology

Infusion Therapy

  • We provide infusion therapy for the treatment of arthritis and osteoporosis.
  • Treatment times range from approximately 30 minutes to over 6 hours.
  • Infusions are provided in a  suite where patients can be comfortable for extended periods of time.

Meet Our Doctors

Helen Harmon, MD, FACR received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. Dr. Harmon completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in 1987. She performed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1989-1991 She has practiced Rheumatology in Greenville since 1991. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.

Rob Oglesby, MD, FACP, FACR received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1984, where he was a distinguished graduate.  In 1988, he received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas in 1991.   He continued his training in Rheumatology with a fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1991-1993.  He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology.

Kyle Harner, MD, FACR received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duke University in 1993.  In 1997, he received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.  In 2000, Dr. Harner completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.  His Rheumatology Fellowship, from 2002-2004, was also at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  He is board certified in both Rheumatology and Internal Medicine.
