Making Bird Feeders

I’ll warn you this was a bit…messy. Your hands will get all peanut buttery and there will be bird seed…everywhere. However, with a little planning (spread out newspapers) the clean up is quick and easy.

I tagged this idea for making bird feeders on Pinterest awhile back and was excited when we finally had a chance to make them.

I’ll warn you it was a bit…messy. Your hands will get all peanut buttery and there will be bird seed…everywhere. However, with a little planning (spread out newspapers) the clean up is quick and easy.

What you’ll need…

empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls
peanut butter–we used both creamy and crunchy
bird seed
ribbon or string for hanging

Using a hole punch, make a hole in the top of the tube to thread string for hanging. Spread the peanut butter on your cardboard tube, completely covering. Roll the tube in birdseed. Thread ribbon or string through punched hole and hang on your tree.

Aren’t they cute? Just a hint…make sure you hang them high enough so your yellow lab doesn’t decide to eat one (or two) for a snack. Just sayin’. :)
