Savoring Summer

This article, entitled We are Savoring. comes from Jessica Rassette at bubandteebs.com.

Last year in August I wrote about the Summer Doldrums. Those thick with heat, long days that sink your soul down to its core with laziness. The middle of the summer pieces of "what now" and "I'm bored" and "It's too hot to do anything."

The Summer Doldrums.

This week we almost lost ourselves to that. We almost felt like it was easier to sink into the couch in our cool, cool basement and dreamily get drowsy to a movie on the TV. But then we remembered it was August, and summer is always fleeting, and there was still so much to do.

So we did something. We did nothing on a long walk in the park, which is SO much of something.

Bub took control and led the way with his hasty ambition. Running, pointing, panting, loving. That is Bub, and he led the way.

And Teebs, he followed suit, in his meandering yet demanding sort of way.

And with those two robust personalities, some little red wagons, and a sweaty but really happy mommy, we beat the summer doldrums again. For the second year in a row. We had a special day with special moments that said "there are a lot of days that we do nothing, but not this one, we are savoring this one."

And this summer day, it was savored.

So take that, Summer Doldrums, you were savored. Evey last drop. Every last single drop of hot, steamy, Summer doldrums. They. Were. Savored. And we don't know exactly how many more days of summer we have, but we sincerely intend on savoring every last one of them. Starting tomorrow, with a Saturday worth savoring. With endless possiblities.

And every day after that.

Take that, Summer Doldrums. We are savoring.
