Recipe & Rhyme Watermelon Soup

Watermelon is the most fun of all the summer fruits! Believe it or not, there are many ways to enjoy watermelon. Give this fun recipe and rhyme a try with the kids today!

Watermelon Soup Recipe
You will need:
A large bowl & melon baller
A small watermelon or 1/2 of a regular sized watermelon
Blueberries
1 large can of mandarin oranges

Steps to follow:
Use the melon baller to scoop out little round balls of watermelon into a large bowl. Add a chilled can of mandarin oranges (don’t drain this it is your “soup broth”). Add blueberries. Chill. Use a soup ladle to scoop into bowls and eat it like soup!

Now it’s time to get with the rhythm! When reading this rhyme, find a beat. Clap your hands or even stomp your feet!

Watermelon Soup Rhyme
My daughter sat on the stoop eating watermelon soup, watching the cars drive by.
Along came a mouse and scared her in the house, so the mouse ate her soup and died.
