A new diagnostic tool could lower the number of unnecessary surgeries for breast cancer patients.

  1. Collagen - A naturally occurring protein that is found in connective tissues in the body.

  2. Laser - A device that emits an intense beam of light of a single color or narrow range of colors. Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

  3. Metastasis - A term used to describe when cancer spreads to other organs or parts of the body.
