DIY: Saving Face (Miracle Face Oil)
The newest addition to the DIY skin care recipe list: face oil. As most of you know, last year I began reducing the amount of plastic we use in our household by making skin care items out of ingredients that are purchasable in bulk. So far, I couldn't be happier. We've saved money and precious natural resources and the best reason...now, I know exactly what is being absorbed into my skin and blood stream.
Several weeks ago a dear friend (who is also devoted to great skin care) purchased a face oil made solely from jojoba oil (a favorite of mine) and essential oils. I read about the oil, looked at the $90 price tag and quickly set out to make my own.

If you are interested in making your own skin care products, investing in several essential oils is a must. This holiday season, I asked for my gift from Liberty to be a trip down to The Soap Opera (Madison, WI) where I could purchase a big bottle of jojoba and a few bottles of essential oils that I'd been waiting to purchase.
I've made two face oils, one with jojoba as the base and one with sweet almond oil as the base. After trying them both for several weeks, my skin is radiant. And the oil smells absolutely amazing. Whatever is left on my hands, I rub onto my chest and shoulders as perfume. When choosing how many drops and which oils, I started slow and added only one or two drops of each oil at a time.
Ingredients:
2 oz glass bottle
1.8 oz Sweet almond oil or jojoba oil
1 - 2 drops of the following essential oils: (remember, with these oils and your skin, less is more) rosewood, cedarwood, grapefruit, lemon, frankincense, ylang ylang, lemon, myrrh, tea tree, and jasmine.
Add oils to carrier oil and store in a dark container, as light may damage the potency of the oils. Apply a small amount of oil to face after cleansing.
