House Works: Shakin' Up the Shake

When the summer heats up, so do ice cream sales! From dip cones, to hot fudge sundaes, to creamy shakes, there are so many ways to enjoy ice cream.

And there are so many flavors. Jon's a mint chip or butter brickle guy, while Taryn goes for anything chocolate.

In this House Works, we're in the kitchen with Chef Judy. She has the scoop on making delicious shakes with some healthy ingredients.

Strawberry Malt
Servings: 2

Old-fashioned malt is created just by adding malted milk powder.

1 cup coconut milk (vanilla), or skim milk
1 cup frozen yogurt (vanilla), or low fat ice cream
1 cup frozen strawberries, unsweetened
2 tablespoons malted milk powder

Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth.
Use any frozen fruit to create different flavors. To make a milkshake, just leave out the malt.
