Cold weather means time for hot soup! Soup is good for us even when we don't have a cold. And nothing beats a good homemade soup.
I would like to share my favorite - a recipe from my absolute favorite TV chef, Ina Garten (The Barefoot Contessa).
Ina's Cheddar Corn Chowder is filling. This recipe will make 10 to 12 generous servings. I served this once on Super Bowl Sunday instead of the same old chili recipe and it scored big time!

-- Cook bacon in the olive oil over medium high heat until bacon is crisp. Remove bacon and reserve. Reduce heat to medium.-- Add onions and butter. Cook 10 min. Until onions are translucent.
-- Stir in flour, salt and turmeric. Cook 3 minutes.
-- Add stock and potatoes. Bring to a boil and then simmer uncovered until potatoes are tender.
-- Add corn to soup, then half and half and cheddar. Cook 5 more minutes.
-- Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve hot and garnish with bacon.
