House Works: Your Local Farmers' Market

Shopping at a farmers' market is a great way to meet local farmers and get fresh, flavorful produce. And they're becoming more popular as many people are looking to eat healthier and support local small businesses.

When visiting a farmers' market, here are a few things to keep in mind to make your experience even better:

  • Bring a big bag and an ice pack to keep your vegetables from overheating, especially if you're shopping on a hot day.

  • Give the kids an opportunity to pick out a new fruit or vegetable to try. Farmers' markets often have different varieties that you may not have noticed in the store.

  • Wear comfortable shoes and keep sunscreen handy.

  • Remember to bring cash for your purchases.

In many communities, you can find a farmers' market on most days of the week. Click here to find a farmers' market in your area!
