New Car Seat Safety Regulations Under Consideration

This article, entitled "New Car Seat Safety Regulations Under Consideration," comes from MomsEveryday correspondent Liz Hayes.

The NHTSA is proposing changes to child car seats that would improve their effectiveness in a side-impact crash. If changes are made, will you need a new car seat?

Seven out of ten children are not properly restrained in their car seats. You can get your car seat checked by a professional, often times for free. Visit seatcheck.org to find your state's child passenger safety laws and to find a location where you can get your seat checked.

The proper use of a car seat is a must to ensure our children are safe while in the car, helping to protect them in the event of an accident. If the government decides that upgrades are needed, manufacturers would have three years to make any necessary changes.
