Paying it Forward

This article, entitled Paying it Forward comes from Cathy at bountifulplate.

Doesn’t life sometimes seem to go by so fast, you wish it would just slow down a little so you could catch up? We are trying to go from point A to point B – going to work, shuttling kids to school, music or athletic events, doing laundry, etc. When we get caught up in our own lives, we sometimes don’t always think about others as much as we should. You hear a lot about random acts of kindness around the holidays, but who says you have to wait until then?? You can “pay it forward” all year long! Here are some ways:

  • If you see someone coming in the door at the same time you are coming out (or vice versa) hold the door open for them

  • At the store, let the person behind you go in front of you

  • Donate a bag of toiletries to your local homeless shelter

  • If you are able to, donate blood

  • Donate diapers and wipes to a pregnancy center

  • Bake some cookies for your children’s bus driver or crossing guard

  • Next time you are out shopping, smile and tell the clerk who waits on you to have a nice day

  • Leave an extra coupon on the grocery store shelf

  • If you can knit or crochet, see if your local hospital needs hats for the newborn babies

  • Volunteer your time at a nursing home or hospice
