Growing Pains for Boys

Have you heard the latest when it comes to boys? Seems they're starting puberty earlier these days. Boys as young as nine and 10 are going through body changes that are often associated with tweens and teens!

Some of the signs of early puberty include rapid growth of bones and muscles and changes in the size and shape of their bodies. Along with that, interest in sexual activity and other adolescent behaviors.

But although their body may be developing sooner than ever, their brain isn't. It will take its own, long sweet time! So if you haven't had the talk yet, you really need to.

I found various books to be helpful when my son was younger and didn't want to hear about sex and body changes from his mom! Here are a few that I would recommend: "My Body My Self for Boys" and "What's Happening To My Body: Book For Boys", both by author Lynda Madaras. Also, "The Boys Body Book: Everything You Need To Know About Growing Up YOU" by author Kelli Dunham.
