When it comes to our children's education, are their teachers making the grade? There's ongoing debate about that all over our country.
There's a push to evaluate teachers and purge our schools of the bad apples. Sounds like a great idea but who will do the judging and based on what criteria? That's the dilemma.
The teaching profession is no different than any other. There are many good, bad, and even indifferent teachers. But I have to say I was fortunate during my school years to have mostly good teachers. So have my children.
I for one can't imagine doing their job. I have two teenagers. Imagine having 25 to 30 of them in a classroom and being responsible for all of them!
My husband and I make ourselves available for homework help. And I have to tell you, some nights are challenging for us to say the least! I can't even imagine homeschooling my kids! The thought of that would drive me to drink! No kidding!
When it comes to teachers and teaching, I still think most people who go into that profession view it as a calling. Those teachers, the good ones need our respect and our support.
