It's back-to-school time for a lot of us and we've been out-and-about doing some back-to-school shopping! But school supplies are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to getting our kids ready for school.
There is a lot of information on pre-school and kindergarten readiness but when it comes to teens - not so much!
At our house, I've been busy scheduling early morning appointments for my two teenagers, just to get them out of bed early! If I let him, my son can sleep 'till noon or later!
We've also been talking a lot about upcoming classes and activities. And just talking about stuff.
My daughter will talk about everything to me. No problem! Sometimes I have to ask for a time-out from our talks:)!
My son, however - is different. When he's ready he will talk. I don't get much if I try to force it!
Teenagers still need parenting and guidance. Probably even more than when they were younger!
I don't want my teens to think they can't ask for help anymore or shouldn't ask questions just because they are older.
The high school years come and go so quickly! Parenting, in my opinion, is forever!
