Summer Skin Care

When you think of dry skin, you probably think winter skin care. But summertime can also lead to dry skin. A bad diet can lead to dry skin but dermatologists say dry skin in the summer is mostly enviromental.

We've had several weeks of hot, humid weather and that can evaporate water from our skin cells. Central air also has a drying effect on our skin.

Skin doctors say taking a few precautions can really help control our dry summer skin. Things such as :

  • Taking cooler showers
  • Use soaps that are moisturizing and fragrance free. Dove soaps are highly recommended
  • It's also advised that we gently pat dry after a shower rather than roughly towel drying our bodies

Doctors also recommend using a moisturizing lotion such as Eucerin. Of course, staying hydrated with water and using a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 is always recommended.
