There are a few things I don’t like to wake up to! One is my husband’s snoring (sorry honey!). Another is the fire alarm chirping because it needs a new battery (a few months ago, I ripped one out of the wall and threw it in the garage in the middle of the night). Probably the worst: “Mom, my stomach doesn’t feel good (and then a Bleck sound)”! Ugh…this was our house a few nights ago, but the bleck didn’t start with Bug (my daughter).
For the past several weeks, the stomach virus has been going around. Every time I drop Bug off at school, I remind her to keep her hands out of her mouth and remember to wash them. I know…I am such a germaphobe!!! I am not trying to turn Bug into a germaphobe, but just making her aware of good hygiene. Well apparently I need to follow my own advice better because I brought the stomach virus into our house! I was only sick for about 24 hours, but it took me almost a week to recover. I thought we had dodged a bullet with Bug, but I was wrong.
Four days after my illness, I wake up to Bug screaming that her stomach hurts! The first thing I do is run her to the bathroom and Ben (my husband) grabs “the bucket”. Everyone has “the bucket”!!! The poor little thing was pitiful! Her stomach rumbled and rumbled but she never got sick. Needless to say, Bug and I spent some snuggle time on the couch the next day. I held her almost all day (which is sooo rare). We watched movies and took naps! Bug began to perk up and eat by that night. She was well enough to go to school the next day, but her appetite wasn’t 100%. It has taken Bug almost 6 days to get her appetite back (and it still isn’t the best). I know Bug feels bad, when she turns down a cupcake.
I have heard horror stories from other moms about their kids getting sick in the middle of the night. One mom told me, her daughter yelled for her in the hall and then got sick. The mother then walked into her daughter’s room and described the scene as a war-zone!!! I am thankful that I didn’t have to clean-up a war-zone! Anyone else experienced a war-zone?!?!
Got to love back-to-school and sickness!! I just hope we don’t have anymore “things that go bleck in the night” incidents! I am praying that our family just stays healthy!
Anyone else feel the need to break out the bleach and Lysol (or is that just me)?!?!
