We received some much needed rain in Kentucky yesterday, but unfortunately this blog isn’t about the pouring rain (I so wish it was!). There are a few things you don’t want to happen when it is over 100 degrees. You don’t want your car to break down, you don’t want your air conditioner to go out, and you definitely don’t want your refrigerator to go out. Well we are batting 2 for 3 in our house!
About 10:15 in the morning, I noticed our air conditioner was making a clicking sound but it wasn’t kicking on. Oh…great is all I could think! The outside temperature was already more than 90 degrees (projected to be more than 100). I called my husband and his initial response, “Oh great…turn it off and I will fix it when I get home”. Uhh…no not an option!! The temperature in our house was rapidly rising (2 degrees in 45 minutes). When I told him that, he decided to go ahead and come home. I am thankful that I am married to an electrician and he quickly fixed the unit.
After he fixed the air conditioning unit, we discovered another problem. Ben (my husband) went to fix his lunch and noticed that the fridge/freezer had thawed (are you kidding me). At this point all we could do was laugh! I looked at Ben and said, “Aren’t you glad you came home from work early?!?!” We quickly called a neighbor and hauled our freezer items to their house. We lost most of the fridge contents. The next thing I know is my fridge is all kinds of crazy pieces in my kitchen. Here is a visual to give you an idea! Did I mention that I just cleaned the kitchen too?!?!

I mentioned I was thankful that I am married to an electrician, but this is also one of the consequences. We don’t call repair people for anything!!! After replacing/testing several things, the fridge is still not fixed. Ben has the problem narrowed down; we just have to wait on the part (ugh!). In the meantime, you are going to be incredibly jealous of my temporary fridge! Our neighbors who are storing our freezer contents let us borrow it. It may not hold much, but it holds the important things!

Lol…isn’t that great! Yep a Red Bull fridge, that is how we roll! I hope our fridge will be fixed soon, if not we are going to be purchasing a new one. Talk about an unexpected expense…ouch!
Oh, the joys of home ownership and life! A broken fridge and a/c are so minor in the “grand scheme” of things. We just think it is funny it all happened in one day (when it rains, it pours). I know most people wouldn’t think it is funny, we (my husband and I) just try to approach life with a little bit of humor.
My next question is what is next? They say everything happens in 3’s. We’ve had 2 breakdowns, so we are due another one. Ummmm…my washer is on its last leg! I will keep you posted.
