Our family has much to be grateful for. Last Sunday, we welcomed Katherine Bailey into the world after months of anticipation. It was amazing to see her face after carrying her for so many months and relieving that she’s received a clean bill of health. Every baby is a miracle, and we feel so blessed.
Kate is a little sister to Lauren, who is almost three years old. My husband and I were a little worried about how Lauren would react to another child in the house. So far, she has been wonderful--very sweet and loving. We are careful with our word choice to not make Lauren feel like she is being pushed aside by another child when the baby needs our attention, but we’re not perfect. Hopefully our efforts will pay off!
One decision that we made that some have found surprising was to keep sending Lauren to her child care on her regular schedule. She loves “school,” and my husband and I decided it was best to try to keep everything as “normal” for Lauren as possible. So far, I have no regrets about that decision. Additionally, it allows me to catch up on sleep when Kate takes her naps, since the overnights are pretty unpredictable this early on. With my decade of training in working crazy hours on the morning show shift, it’s pretty easy for me to tend to the baby on little sleep.
I also want to thank everyone who was kind enough to post well wishes on Facebook. It means so much to hear from everyone, and our whole family is feeling the love. I hope to bring Baby Kate by for a morning show visit soon! In the meantime, I'll be enjoying all the snuggles and smiles of my sweet Baby Kate.
