Melanie Bloom rejoined the 10/11 News team in September 2012. She anchors First News Nebraska alongside Chad Silber and Meteorologist Brad Anderson.

Melanie grew up near St. Paul, Minnesota. That is where she got her start in television news. She spent her summers in high school working for KSTP TV. Melanie graduated from St. Cloud State University with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in French.

She dove in to the news business by filling several roles at St. Cloud State's campus television station, UTVS. After graduation, Melanie's first job was as morning anchor at KSAX TV in Alexandria, MN. Her second job in television news brought her to the Cornhusker State for the first time. From 2004 to 2007, she served as a reporter and fill-in anchor at 10/11 News in Lincoln, NE.

It was during her time at 10/11 News that Melanie met and fell in love with co-worker, Meteorologist Rusty Dawkins. The pair left Lincoln to accept jobs at KAAL TV in Austin, MN. Melanie was the morning anchor there for several years. After a wedding and two children, Melanie and Rusty decided it was time to return to Nebraska.

They still have friends and family in the area and are thrilled to be close to them once again.
