This article, entitled "A Plea for Help!" comes from Melanie Bloom, MomsEveryday blogger from Lincoln, NE.
I need some help. Give me your suggestions. Give me you ideas. I'll take anything!
My adorable daughter Gillian is 15 months old. She's growing well, healthy and is an adorable smiling baby by day.
At night, she could use some improvement....
Gillian has slept through the night 3 times. In 15 months.
She goes through phases of waking just one time at night, then waking 2 or 3 times at night for long periods of time.
I know some of these instances can be tied to teething. My kids have really tough times with teething.
Even when Gillian isn't actively teething, she won't sleep through the night. Remember? 3 times in 15 months!
My husband and I don't know what to do to teach her to sleep.
Most of the time when she wakes, she'll take a bottle and go back to sleep. Occasionally she'll take a bottle, finish it, then stay totally awake for the next two hours.
That's not a pleasant event at 1am. That was the case last night. And the night before.
When you leave the room when she's wide awake, she screams. I've let her cry for 15 minutes, until she was coughing and exasperated, but still crying.
Gillian's sleeping habits were likely derailed when we moved from our house in Minnesota into a two bedroom apartment in Lincoln. We also have a son, so that left Gillian to sleep in the master bedroom with my husband and I.
We are in a house now and Gillian has her own room.
How do we get her to sleep through the night? Please give me your suggestions. I would LOVE to hear from you!
