This article, entitled "Tooth Fairy, are you for real?" comes from Taryn Vanderford, MomsEveryday blogger from Lincoln, NE.
Teeth are dropping out at an amazing rate at the Vanderford house. I think the tooth fairy delivered two to three dollars in the last couple of weeks.
But who’s depositing the money under those fluffy pillows?
Is it the pretty little fairy with wings and a wand who magically appears during the night?
Or does a mom or dad dressed in PJ's stealthily sneak in a tired stupor up the stairs and into the child’s room to make the switch?
It’s tough to make sense of it all when you’re eight. My daughter is so confused by what she’s hearing from school friends that it’s reached a boiling point in her mind.
“Are you the tooth fairy?” Olivia asked my husband as she snuggled into bed.
“Tell me the truth.”
Wow. How do you answer that?! I think Jon did pretty well.
“In some homes, parents may bring the money,” Jon told her.
“That just helps the tooth fairy out… gives her more time to make the rounds to other kids.”
Olivia seemed to accept that answer… at the moment. The next day, she asked again, this time saying. “Don’t lie to me.”
Moms and Dads, how do you deal with these “tough” questions? You want to be honest with your kids, but you don’t want to spoil the fun and the magic too soon.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
