Homemade Cards
The DAD Card
Materials:
Directions:
Take a piece of colorful construction paper and fold it in half. Trace or draw letters onto the paper, using a pencil. You want to spell out “DAD”. Make sure the letters are touching the seam of the paper, that way when you cut the letters out, it will open like a card. You can make the card horizontal or vertical depending on what you want your card to look like.
Once the base of your card is complete, feel free to decorate it as you wish. Be as creative as possible. Use buttons, bows, glitter, stickers; anything that is pretty, inexpensive, and fun to decorate a card. You can even use old magazines and cut out pictures that remind you of your dad; then glue those to the outside of the card. Write a nice message inside the card wishing your dad a Happy Father’s Day.
A Memory Card
Materials:
Directions:
Pick a colorful piece of paper, then fold in half. You can make the card horizontal or vertical depending on what you want your card to look like. Find an old photo of you and your dad smiling and doing something fun together. Trace a heart on the front of the card that is a little smaller than the photo and cut it out. Then tape the photo to the inside of the card, facing out, so your heart frames the picture.
Use buttons, bows, glitter, stickers; anything that is pretty, inexpensive, and fun to decorate the outside of the card. If you want, use old magazines and cut out pictures of anything that reminds you of your dad, then glue those to the outside of the card.
On the inside of the card, write a nice message wishing you dad a Happy Father’s Day. You can even write something referring to the picture you chose; for example: “Remember when we … It’s memories like these that make me happy that you are my dad.”
