Tech Mom: Money Managing Apps

A lot of moms with smartphones do everything they can to get the most out of their device while others aren’t entirely sure what all it can do.

Here are three smartphone apps designed to help manage your finances:

Debt Payoff Pro. This app allows you to enter your debt from multiple sources such as loans and credit cards and provides you with multiple payoff strategies to help you eliminate your debt faster.

It features charts and reports, a progress bar to show where you are on paying off each debt and calculators for principal, interest and early payoff. For 99-cents (currently half price in the app store), it might be a good investment to get your finances on track. A free “lite” version is also available, but only allows you to enter two separate debts.

Accounts – Checkbook. Rather than carting around a paper check register, or worse, not keeping track of your spending, Accounts – Checkbook will manage your register across multiple accounts, including checking, savings and credit cards. It’s a time-saving app as well. Instead of manually entering all the details of every transaction, the smart auto-complete function remembers places you’ve been before and the types of transaction (dining out, groceries, fuel, entertainment, etc.) you’ve entered in the past. At the end of the month, see where your money went on a pie chart that keeps track based on the category you entered.

If you and your partner have a joint checking account, there’s an optional feature to share a transaction between multiple devices. The cost for the app is far less expensive than a single “oops” resulting in a fee from your bank. The “lite” version will let you try it for free, but you can only enter four transactions.

Pageonce – Money & Bills Free. Pageonce is the one-stop app to manage all your finances. It allows you to set up bank accounts, credit cards and even bills. Simply log in to your online accounts using the app and receive automatic alerts when an account has a low balance, interest has been applied to a charge card and bills coming due.

If you prefer the ad-free version, Pageonce Pro is $12.99.
