Make Your Holiday Shopping Safer

To be honest I have NO IDEA what I even want or need to buy this Christmas. I am a Christmas slacker!

Here are some wonderful tips for you to stay safer while shopping online this Holiday season:

1. Never EVER give out your social security number. Legitimate sites will never askk you for this information.

2. Make sure the store you shop at is encrypted and secure. You will see a padlock icon in the address bar and https instead of just http.

3. Bogus Emails – Companies will not email you asking for more private information. Make notice of the address on suspicious emails, hover over them and you will see they don’t come from the actual site.

4. Sites like Amazon and Paypal will use your real full name, not “member” and if you are sent an email from someone calling you not by name, don’t click, its a scam!

Do you or someone you know have a story about identity theft around the Holidays? Are you reluctant to shop online or even use cash only because of something happening in the past?
