Valentines Day is right around the corner and the pressure's on! The day of love has really become a burden rather than a celebration straight from the heart for some people.
I know I felt that way when I was young and single. I absolutely dreaded Valentines Day!
But I don't give the finger to Valentines Day anymore. For me, Valentines day is all about giving love to others and all about giving love to myself!
I count on my husband to take care of our date night. He books a table at the same restaurant each year. It's nice!
My kids say they don't, but still expect a little surprise from me on that day. I love that!
But for me, Valentines Day is also about me! I begin with a mani/pedi for myself. I grab my favorite latte from Starbucks and sit my fanny in a chair for an hour-and-a-half for my little spa treat!
In years past, I've enjoyed gathering girlfriends together for lunch and celebrating the day with mimosas! Love it! I've sent roses to my Mom since my Dad is no longer there to treat her.
Friends of mine also clued me in to other ways to celebrate Valentines Day in an unconventional manner. Some volunteer that day, others write a check to their favorite charity.
Regardless of how we choose to celebrate or not celebrate Valentines Day, love rules!
