Mother's Day is just around the corner. But get this, you don't have to spend a ton of money to impress your mom. She might just like a refreshing treat, made by you!
In this House Works, Moms Everyday Blogger Alison Bickel shows us how to make a light dessert that is sure to impress your mom.
1 pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
1- 8 ounce package cream cheese softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
4 cups fresh berries (can be strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or a combination)
2 ounces chocolate, coarsely grated or shaved
1. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
2. Fold gently into whipped cream.
3. In a trifle bowl, or individual glasses for serving, layer cake, berries and cream cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients used. Garnish with shaved chocolate and any remaining berries. Refrigerate for up to 2 hours or overnight.
Yields 12-14 servings
