Spring Window Safety

This article, entitled "Spring Window Safety," comes from Liz Hayes, MomsEveryday correspondent from Central Wisconsin.

Spring is a great time to open the windows and let the fresh air in. But if you have small children, you'll need to put some extra thought into it.

Every year, children fall out of open windows and sustain serious injuries. There are ways to make sure this doesn't happen to your child.

  • Install window guards and window stops, making sure the window is open no more than four inches.
  • Do not depend on screens, which are not designed to keep children in.
  • If possible, open windows from the top rather than the bottom.
  • Keep furniture away from windows to limit kids' access.
